I Found Something Very Old About My Art
While looking at my book collection, I stumbled onto a book that I made a long time ago while I was still living in Italy, in partnership with my dear friend Stefano Soddu.
We both were very fascinated by the works of Andy Goldsworthy so, we decided to go to a nearby torrent and make some compositions in the water with leaves and sticks like the great master!!!!
We were very satisfied with what we did, to the point of making a book and we also put there many other things that we had already done in the past.
We entitled the book (in Italian) "Risalendo la corrente" that means "Going upstream". We also added in the title "del fiume, dell'arte e, forse, della vita." That means "of the river, of art and, perhaps, of life."
Water Installations
Here you can see many pages of the book about the installations:
The Branch That Came Back to Life
Very particularly curious was one installation that after putting an old branch (apparently dead) in the dirt, under the water, between some rocks, when we went back a few months later, it restarted making leaves!!!
Really incredible!!!
Sculptures from Railway Ties
Here are a few of the sculptures that I made a long time ago. The big ones are pieces of railway ties.
Works by Mother Nature
I'll conclude with 3 pictures of things made by Mother Nature while working by herself. No one could do something better than this!!!!
Thank you for reading!
