The Absurdity of Continuing Space Explorations

It's been made very clear by now in the scientific world that man CAN'T live in space. All astronauts who come back to Earth, even after only a few months, have damage to their skeletal structure and circulation system; we were conceived to live in strong gravity and we can't live without it! Reproducing it artificially is not enough.

Besides that, forgetting about the actual technology and just imagining the most futuristic interstellar voyages possible, at a tenth of the speed of light, it would take forty years to reach the nearest star and a FEW MILLIONS YEARS to just cross our Galaxy!

This is absurd, just to think about!

The Reality of Space Travel

It's not a matter of not wanting to see the possible developments that can lead to space travel, but it's important to understand that this is not a situation like in the time of Columbus, in which the existence of land at the other side of the ocean was being negated because of ignorance or religious prejudices; we simply know that we can't do it because of our human limitations!

The Astronomical Costs

Every space mission of the Shuttle was costing 400 million dollars! To build the Space Station that we ended in 2008, we burned 120 BILLION dollars!

The entire benefits that humanity has received from all that money is little more than nothing, compared to what we could have done in terms of:

  • Medical assistance
  • Education
  • Developing our Country
  • Supporting other Countries still in great difficulty

A Matter of Priorities

I have a profound respect for the astronauts who have risked and sometimes lost their lives for our space programs in the past decades, but following this road is absolutely wrong.

The enormous amount of money spent uselessly, together with the amount saved on continuous and useless developments of armaments, could really let us assure a better life for all humanity and not only in our Country.

The Final Question

How is it possible to keep spending hundreds of billions of dollars just so an astronaut can attempt to drink a glass of water on Mars, in the vain hope of maybe finding it, when there are millions of people on Earth who don't have a glass of water to drink?
